40 MoldMaking Technology —— JANUARY 2016 Products 6-Axis Sensor Measures Force, Torque Components A solution for industrial robots, pressing force control, grinding, deburring and more, ATI Industrial Automation's Capacitive F/T Sensor is designed to measure the six components of force (Fx, Fy, Fz) and torque (Tx, Ty, Tz). Its force range is 45 lbf (200 N) and torque range is 35 inch-pounds (4 Nm). The sensor features a compact design, hardened stainless steel construc- tion, high-speed output, overload protection, span temperature compensation options and high signal-to-noise ratio. Output options include an Ethernet conversion box that allows connection to Ethernet networks; USB conversion cables that allow connection to a personal computer or other devices and is powered by the USB output; and RS-422 serial connection, which provides unterminated wires for data signals and user 5-VDC power input. ATI Industrial Automation / 919-772-0115 / ati-ia.com Solid Carbide End Mills Cover Range of Applications Emuge offers a line of solid carbide end mills designed for applications rang- ing from universal milling to aerospace and high-hardness machining. The Emuge-Franken end mill line includes Top-Cut VAR, Top-Cut metric, Multi-Cut, TiNox-Cut and Hard-Cut varieties. Top-Cut VAR is a variable-helix, solid carbide, inch end mill with an alumi- num chromium (AlCr) PVD coating, suited for universal milling applications in virtually all materials. Top-Cut metric end mills feature variable helix flutes and an aluminum titanium nitride (TiAlN) PVD coating, well-suited for both roughing and finishing operations. Multi-Cut carbide roughing end mills feature serrated chipbreaker technology for optimum chip evacuation and, according to the company, can achieve faster metal removal rates than conventional end mills in a range of materials. TiNox-Cut coolant-fed roughing end mills feature variable flute spacing and a serrated chipbreaker profile for aggressive material removal and a high-heat-resistant, multi-layer TiN/TiAlN coating. Hard-Cut end mills are specially designed for machining of hardened materials ranging to 66 HRC. Emuge Corp. / 508-595-3600 / emuge.com Thread Chaser Holder Designed for Precision Seco's P1 and P5 thread chaser insert holders feature a special carbide-pin locating system combined with a patented pocket seat surface pattern and high-pressure coolant capabilities, enabling high precision and rigidity in threading operations that involve tough materials. Working in unison with top and axial clamps, the holder's locating system uses two horizontally oriented pins that rest at specific distances from the bottom of the insert pocket. This two-pin system ensures precise insert posi- tioning from insert to insert, as well as contributes to the holder's increased rigidity and insert support. The holder's pocket seat surface pattern features milled scallops that provide additional chaser insert support. When the insert is mounted in the pocket, the clamping force acts on the scallop pattern and work-hardens the seat surface to 54 HRC. High-pressure coolant is directed at key cutting areas of the insert, enter- ing the holder from the back end, traveling through the insert cavity directly to the insert's chipformer and into the channels between each tooth. Maximum output pressure is 3,046 psi (210 bar). The P1 holder handles inserts 625" (15.875-mm) thick, and the P5 accommo- dates 0.984" (25-mm) thickness. Chipformers are available in 0.156" (3.97-mm) and 0.124" (3.18-mm) sizes. Seco Tools LLC / 248-528-5200 / secotools.com/us
