AM Solution Designed with Moldmakers in Mind
GF Machining Solutions says its AgieCharmilles AM S 290 Tooling system, which is based on EOS's M290
metal laser sintering system, was created to extend the scope of solutions for mold and die manufactur-
ing. With the additive manufacturing provided by the system, moldmakers can move thermal exchange
closer to the surface of a mold, improving temperature homogeneity to reduce throughput times and
increase part quality, the company says. The incorporation of AM also is said to lower energy consump-
tion and enable programmers to improve part designs through conformal cooling and heating channels.
The system features controls and software designed to allow easy and quick integration with existing
machine tools and measuring devices.

Small Slide Unit Designed for
Easy Maintenance
Meusburger's small E 3300 Slide unit features
eccentric guiding and mirrored mounting options
that require minimal space inside molds. The
guiding also is DLC-coated to minimize wear and
increase maintainability. Tight manufacturing tol-
erances are said to guarantee high precision. Two
different slide paths allow demolding of 3- and
6.1-mm undercuts. If necessary, the slide preload
can be easily adjusted by means of a shim.
