58 MoldMaking Technology May 2015 Product Focus / Amerimold Exhibitor Product Showcase Dry Ice Blasting Cleans Molds in Place IceTech America, Booth 402 The Evolution Line of dry ice blast- ing equipment from IceTech includes the Xtreme 40 and Elite 20 systems, and allows end users to clean molds in place, preventing potential dam- age caused by equipment removal and reinstallation. Molders can clean critical equipment parts while they are still at operating temperature, without water or chemicals. In addi- tion, the systems can eliminate blem- ishes and unwanted flash that occurs in the parting line of mold halves. Dry ice blasting uses dry ice pel- lets made from recycled carbon dioxide. The dry ice pellets sublimate, or turn back into CO 2 gas, when they come into contact with equipment. According to the company, the production of dry ice gives the recycled CO 2 a "second life" before it is released into the atmosphere, thereby delaying its effects on the environment.
