Product Focus 50 MoldMaking Technology August 2015 Inspection/Measurement Gaging System Adds Probe for Capturing Discrete Point Data The Equator comparative gaging system from Renishaw includes a TP20 touch-trigger probe kit and updated EZ-IO software, enabling easier setup and automation for inspection of high-volume manufactured parts. The touch-trigger probe can be used to quickly capture discrete point data and is well-suited as an alternative for in-line gaging tasks using custom hard- gaging systems with single-point air gages or linear variable differential trans- formers (LVDTs). The TP20 can be combined with the SP25 high-speed scanning probe, which enables continuous scanning of features at scan speeds ranging to 200 mm/sec. to gather high volumes of data when needed. The system can automatically switch to the SP25 scanning module using the integrated chang- ing rack to provide any combination of measurement routines. EZ-IO automation software is designed to make it easy for integrators set- ting up automated manufacturing cells to configure communications between the gaging systems and the cell controller. It includes intelligent functions such as automatic re-mastering, as well as a built-in process monitor display that shows the history of feature measurements and a graphical view of pro- portion of tolerance for each feature. It also enables management of the mas- tering process according to temperature, time or number of parts measured. As the part is being ground, the system measures stock removal and compares it to set points required by the process to control machining and part quality. The P7up is part of a family of products intended for direct pin-for-pin replacement of older, obsolete Marposs electronic gage amplifiers. It is designed to extend the life of older in-process gage applications without dramatically impacting the machine control or gage system. Marposs Corp. / 248-370-0404 / marposs.com System Measures Roughness, Contour in One Run Zeiss Industrial Metrology's Surfcom NEX 100 is a hybrid surface measure- ment system designed to measure surface texture and contour at the same time. Multiple contour and roughness sensors are available to fit a variety of applications. Contours are measured using a high-speed and low-vibration linear drive unit that is said to deliver high measurement accuracy, while a high-resolution inductive system measures surface parameters. The system features a 133-mm granite table with T-slots for ease of part staging, as well as an improved detector safety mechanism, quick-change magnetic contour arms that do not require requalification, optional T-stylus probing for up/downward tracing, automatic stylus force and a temperature correction function for assured accuracy within 20°C, ±5°C.
