Products 52 MoldMaking Technology —— OCTOBER 2017 Horizontal Machining Center Built to Handle Large Parts Kitamura Machinery Of USA Inc. introduces the Mycenter-HX800G horizontal machining center, which the company says delivers the precision, accuracy and repeatability required to produce close tolerance parts from the toughest of materials. The center provides consistent accuracies of ±0.002mm (±0.000079")/full stroke and ±0.001mm (±0.000039") repeatability. Kitamura says that solid box ways and a high-grade, Meehanite-cast construction provide superior vibration absorption capabilities that improve surface quality, elevate the level of finish capability and expand the overall life of the cutting tools at the same time. Kitamura's patented twin ballscrew and servo motor technology on all axes are capable of traveling (X) 1,550mm (61.0"), (Y) 1,300 mm (51.2"), (Z) 1,400 mm (55.1") at a rate of 60 m/min. (2,362 ipm) on solid box ways. It has a work envelope that is 1,525 mm (60.0") x 1,550 mm (61.0") high. The center has one piece, easy grip sliding doors, large windows, door openings and easy spindle access, all of which combine to reduce operator work load and promote a safe work environment. The Mycenter-HX800G comes standard with a 54HP, 12,000 rpm, four-step geared, dual contact spindle that delivers 586N/m (432.1 ft/lbs.) of maximum torque for large drill or tap applications and for applications that require the removal of heavy material, combined with high rpm for fine finish capabilities, all in a single set-up. The machining center has an available 8,000 rpm high torque spindle option with a maximum torque output of 1226N/m (904.2 ft/lbs.). The dual contact design offers the benefits of greater machining rigidity, improved surface finishes, higher cutting accuracy and extended cutting tool life. The Mycenter-HX800G comes standard with full 360-degree, fourth axis simultaneous machin- ing capabilities that are necessary to machine complex, multi-sided parts. Additionally, Kitamura's two-station, automatic pallet changer enables the loading of parts while machining, which improves spindle cutting time and therefore makes the in-process verification of component quality possible. It was designed with the smaller mold in mind. It stands 54" tall on leveling pads, weighs less than 1,000 lbs, and is fully controlled and safely oper- ated with a handheld, wireless remote control. It is easy to move the machine around the shop with just a pallet jack. It has a 2,000 lb capacity for splitting and tipping. It opens to 35.5" and closes to less than 5". Each platen has over 2,400 lbs of holding power that are supplied by electromagnets to provide additional safety when securing the mold. Wee-Split Inc. / 815-575-4337 / wee-split.com
