The flange- type bodies feature high helical flute angles and special polished flute surfaces for increased chip evacuation. According to the company, excellent chip evacu- ation can be achieved even in drilling holes of 5xD or deeper, where chip evacuation tends to be difficult. A self-clamping system simplifies drill-head indexing. Drill heads can be replaced without the need to remove the whole drill body from the toolholder and readjust the tool overhang, reducing tool-change time. It makes it possible to combine the complete outside geometry of heat-shrinking mountings with the company's hydraulic expansion technology. According to the company, the toolholder's design reduces peak cutting amplitude of the force progression in Y direc- tion, resulting in decreased tool deflection. By reducing the load of the cross cutter and the cutting edge, longer service life can be achieved. Schunk Inc. / 800-772-4865 / us.schunk.com
