6 MoldMaking Technology —— AUGUST 2016 THIS MONTH ON moldmakingtechnology.com From the Editor Last month we armed you with MoldMaking Technology's annual Technology Review and Sourcing Guide, and next month is the largest and longest-running manufacturing technol- ogy trade show in the United States, so grab that guide, make your hit list, and visit the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS). The timing couldn't be better. This biennial event will take place September 12-17, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, and feature more than 2,000 exhibitors showcasing their technology wares—everything from CAD/CAM and 3D-printing technology to machining and cutting tools to automation and inspection /measure- ment equipment. It is the perfect place for generating new ideas, find- ing answers to your manufacturing problems, seeing technology in action and choosing the best solution for your needs. Show organizers say that 93 percent of attendees find new products or ideas to use, 86 percent find specific solutions to manufacturing problems, 89 percent visit booths of companies not currently calling on them, and 64 percent make new business contacts. Sounds to me like this show is worth your time and investment. Paul Novak, president of South Coast Mold agrees. He is one of many MoldMaking Technology readers headed to the event. This California- based mold manufacturer, featured on page 36 for its unique machin- ing strategies aimed at decreasing mold-build times, understands the advantages of having five-axis machining capabilities, so Paul will be using IMTS to do some investigating. "There is some equipment we may need in the next 12 months, but we also have long-term needs that IMTS will help us navigate. While at the show, we'll research equip- ment and technology that requires a greater investment," he says. Paul was recently featured in IMTS' "We Are" video series. You can check out his video at short.moldmakingtechnology.com/scoast. To help hone your focus for a productive IMTS, we are running our IMTS Exhibitor Product Showcase (starting on page 62) this month and next. We have also launched our IMTS Zone at moldmakingtech- nology.com/zones/imts. As the show approaches, please check back for new product updates, as well as information about new technology, pavilions to explore and conference information. I hope to see you there. MoldMaking Technology will be exhibiting at Booth W-10, so be sure to stop by for a visit. Happy planning! Perfect Timing Christina M. The eye plays tricks on the brain, however, as the large stepovers suggest large cusps of height. short.moldmakingtechnology.com/tangent ZONE: IMTS 2016 Visit moldmakingtechnology.com/ zones/imts for a preview of this year's International Manufacturing Technology Show, September 12-17, in Chicago, Illinois. BLOG: Leadtime Leaders Made Their Presence Known at Amerimold The moldmaking com- munity is a family of sorts, and this becomes very evident every year at Amerimold when we celebrate our annual Leadtime Leader Awards competition. This year's winner, Krieger Craftsmen, registered a busload of people to attend the show. Check out this slideshow for highlights of the awards ceremony. short.moldmakingtechnology.com/lla16slide DIGITAL EDITION: Additive Manufacturing Additive manufacturing will be a sig- nificant part of IMTS 2016.
