The software can operate independently, but can also be integrated with existing CAM systems. The software detects collisions and near-misses between machine tool components such as axis slides, heads, turrets, rotary tables, spindles, toolchangers, fixtures, work- pieces, cutting tools and other user-defined objects. Users can also set up "near-miss zones" to check for close calls and detect overtravel errors. Machine movements and material replacement can be simulated while stepping or playing backwards.
