Eight different sizes are available, ranging from a measuring volume of 700 x 700 x 600 mm to 1,200 x 2,400 x 1,000 mm. The system operates on Zeiss' Calypso reference software. A robust design enables the CMM to be used near production. Zeiss Industrial Metrology / 800-327-9735 / zeiss.com/metrology Digital Optical Comparator Offers 5-Axis Inspection Methods Machine Tools offers the 700 Series VisionGauge digital optical comparator developed by Visionx Inc., which features five axes of motion (X, Y, Z, rotary and tilt) for quick, accurate inspection of virtually all sides and angles of a part. Well-suited for automatic inspection of parts with complex geometries, the inspection system also can be useful in checking EDM or laser-drilled holes. "Adaptive" software locates features of interest on different surfaces with varying reflectivity and viewing angles. The system is available in a high-resolution 20x magnification and features a 38" diagonal image viewing area. Travels of 12" are standard on the X, Y and Z axes. All-LED illumination offers stable, repeatable, multi-angle and multi-quadrant lighting conditions via a programmable, computer-controlled system. The system also comes with flexible and general-purpose reflected illumination. The VisionGauge is a fully digital drop-in replacement for traditional opti- cal comparators. It works directly with a part's CAD data and does not require overlays, Mylars or templates. Systems are Windows-based and delivered network-ready in a convenient "rolling cart" configuration. The systems are available in vertical and horizontal configurations. Methods Machine Tools / 877-668-4262 / methodsmachine.com System Provides 3D Inspection, Reverse Engineering Verisurf Software's portable Master3DGage hardware/software combination is designed for automated "in-process" inspection directly on the shop floor, enabling machine shops to increase production and improve part quality. The system integrates the latest Hexagon Metrology portable CMM with Verisurf X 3D-model-based inspection and reverse engineering software. The 3D inspec- tion solution verifies manufactured parts directly to 3D CAD models or 2D drawings. When no data or drawings are available, the system serves as a reverse engineering solution. Master3DGage's three-step inspection process aligns manufactured part to the 3D CAD model, inspects the part in real time and then reports the inspection results in industry standard formats with intelligent GD&T; and color deviation maps. In the three-step reverse engineering process, the system measures complex 3D profile surfaces or prismatic features by contact scan or probe, or captures 2D features. Point cloud and STL mesh editing tools help prepare large data sets for 3D mesh surfacing. Finally, 3D point clouds and meshes are transformed into 3D NURB surfaces or sold models.
