Software 30 MoldMaking Technology January 2015 The company continues to move forward with other new technology as well, and, as of late, new people, too. Just last fall, it announced a $3.5 million investment and new equip- ment and a push to hire 30 new employees. Yet, King says these investments might not have been as feasible without productivity gains derived from automating design and speed- ing calculation times. Doing so required not just new soft- ware, but a commitment to not shying away from pursuing needed standardization, even in the face of a diverse range of work. The specific route to get there may differ from com- pany to company, but where there's a will, the right technol- ogy supplier can help provide a way. "We've used the tools Cimatron has given us to apply the system for our specific needs," King says. Photo courtesy of John Caccese. The faster new designs and tool paths can be fnalized, the faster molds can be machined, assembled and shipped out on the trucks visible in the background.
